The Diocese of Dresden-Meissen has made ISIDOR its long-term solution

Digitalization is rarely the result of individual projects. Often, sustainable added value is created only through the consistent refinement of processes, systems, and collaboration over many years. The Diocese of Dresden-Meissen has taken this path and, following a comprehensive assessment of its IT landscape, decided to purchase permanent licenses for several ISIDOR modules. This decision reflects a commitment to continuity, investment security, and confidence in a solution that has proven itself in practical use.

Today, church organizations face challenges similar to those faced by many other large institutions: information is managed in different systems, processes must be streamlined, and data must be made reliably available. At the same time, demands for transparency, documentation, and collaboration are increasing.

Against this backdrop, the Diocese of Dresden-Meissen began using ISIDOR under a subscription model as early as 2019. The initial goal was to support digital administrative processes and strengthen the organization’s database.

What began as a digital transformation project evolved over the following years into a key component of organizational development. Its ongoing use made it possible to gain experience, refine requirements, and gradually further develop the solution’s role within the existing IT landscape.

As part of a multi-year IT strategy, the Diocese of Dresden-Meissen conducted a comprehensive review of its existing system landscape. In the process, key questions were raised:

• How can data be used more efficiently?
• Which solutions provide the organization with long-term support in achieving its strategic goals?

A key factor in the decision was the role that ISIDOR now plays within the organization.

As usage increased, the solution evolved into a central data platform accessed by various departments. Information is maintained in a single location and can be used for various applications.

This helps avoid the typical challenges that frequently arise in complex organizations:

In 2026, the decision was finally made to obtain a permanent license for several ISIDOR modules.

The shift from a rental model to a licensing model is more than just a change in the type of contract. It reflects the belief that the solution will make a lasting and significant contribution to the organization’s digital transformation.

This move is particularly noteworthy given the increasingly challenging economic environment. Investments are carefully evaluated and must demonstrate long-term value.

The decision can therefore be seen as an expression of confidence in the solution’s long-term viability. At the same time, it provides investment security and a stable foundation for further digitalization.

For the diocese, the focus is less on the software itself and more on the question of how data, processes, and organizational information can be managed efficiently over the long term.

Development is by no means complete once the license has been granted.

Several other projects are already underway that are consistently advancing the digitization of the diocese. These include, among other things, the integration of a new human resources software system to enable even more efficient exchange of information between systems in the future.

Initiatives like these show that digital transformation is not a final state. It is an ongoing process in which systems, processes, and organizational structures are developed together.

The decision that has now been made provides a solid foundation for this.
