As the person responsible for reporting in the Diocese of Dresden-Meißen, it is my job to collect the VDD statistics once a calendar year. At the beginning of the year, I have painstakingly compiled all the statistical data for the past year for these statistics. As we have built up a valuable treasure trove of data in ISIDOR over the last few years with our data maintenance team in the diocese, which we already use to create the print schematic, for ISIDOR MOBILE and the diocesan atlas, we wanted to use this data for other purposes. For this reason, I visited the church team from Westernacher Solutions at their branch in Bad Kreuznach. In a two-day workshop, we were able to prepare, create and create all the relevant person categories, filters and settings for the VDD statistics in the ISIDOR statistics module. The resulting VDD statistics in ISIDOR look simple and tidy, but the implementation and logic in the background is undeniably very complex. To ensure that this work and the knowledge it contains is not lost on us, we have documented the structure and system of the configuration and the structure of the filters used. I received excellent advice and support from the Westernacher team. We in the Diocese of Dresden-Meißen are aware that statistical analysis can only be as good as the underlying data. That’s why I discussed the necessary maintenance work with the data maintenance team. The filters required for the statistics, around 140 in number, enable us to use them to send notifications to the data maintenance staff and specifically point out gaps in the data. This gives us another tool that not only generates statistics, but also gives us the opportunity to maintain the quality of the data used. This is particularly important because we also use this data in our ISIDOR MOBILE information portal and in the “Diocese Atlas” geoinformation portal. If you have any questions about the implementation of VDD statistics with ISIDOR, please feel free to contact me.
