As a long-standing member of the ISIDOR community, the Diocese of Innsbruck has been involved in the development and expansion of the ISIDOR database and ISIDOR MOBILE for many years.
The last Schematismus in book form was published in 2015, so it was time for a new edition. When the decision was made in favor of the central ISIDOR database and the initial development of the networked database, it was already clear that the database would form the basis for a future “classic” online schematism that could be accessed on a daily basis.
The Diocese of Innsbruck is endeavouring to advance digitization and also to dispense with printed products as far as possible in the interests of sustainability. These considerations have led to the creation of a purely digital version of the schematism and the decision to dispense with a printed version in book form.
The great advantage of this is that changes or clarifications can be corrected quickly in ISIDOR and the schematism that is fed from this is therefore always available as a PDF that is updated daily: instead of the “schematism of 2024”, which is no longer up-to-date on day 1 after printing, there is now the schematism with the current date.
In addition, the search functions in digital documents offer the convenience of finding your way around quickly without knowledge of the structures or reaching your destination without major detours.
A dedicated project team was formed for this purpose in 2023, which has taken on the task of implementing all the details with great commitment and support from Westernacher Solutions, in particular Mr. Marcus Hoffmann. The schematism as a structural and personnel directory of our diocese is not only essential for our internal and parish offices, but also a valuable support for external parties such as authorities, banks, contractual partners, etc.
Although all the required information and functionalities were already available in ISIDOR in principle, the necessity of the displayed data and its presentation in the document was scrutinized in all steps and reduced to the essentials.
A positive side effect: the already high quality, up-to-dateness, networking and standardization of the database have even reached a new level in and through the project.
The cross-departmental data maintenance team, which has been established for years, continues to ensure that the underlying data is up to date and improved with the support of Westernacher Solutions.
We in the diocese of Innsbruck are delighted with this successful project.
